Which Fruit

Galatians 5:22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control   (NIV)

The evidence of our accepting Jesus into our hearts, minds and lives is the fruit of the spirit.  When any one of these is not prevalent what takes prevalence is the evil fruit of Satan – the exact opposite of the fruit of the Spirit.  When just one remains lacking, if not addressed right away, the others gradually are replaced by their opposites as well.  We must guard these fruits, fertilize them by reading, studying, and meditating on the written word, the Holy Bible, and exercise them into full growth by reflecting them in all we say and do.  When we snap in impatience at someone, we are not exercising love, kindness or forbearance which is patience.   One reason we loose our fruits is we are so consumed with ourselves, what we want, when we want it and how we want it.  When our self-centered desires are at odds with another’s desires, we allow the evil fruits to give way to the fruits of the Spirit.  Let’s work on noticing the fruits of the Spirit and learn to allow those fruits to show.
