In Jesus’ Name

John 16:26-27 26 In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.  (NIV)

When Jesus walked this earth people asked Him for their needs.  Before Jesus returned to the Father He said we no longer needed to ask Him.  We now have direct access to the Father and are to ask Him.  We are to ask in the name of Jesus.  This doesn’t mean we tack on “in the name of Jesus” at the end of all our prayers.  If we are believers and have accepted Jesus as God’s Son and the Lord of our lives we bear the name of Jesus on our very being.  When God the Father looks at us and hears us, He sees the blood of Jesus and His righteousness on us.  This is what gives us direct access to the Father.  Many think tacking on “in Jesus’ name” will give them a better chance of their prayer being answered.  It isn’t what we say that get’s our prayers answered but what covers us – the blood of Jesus.  Jesus even told us when we pray to pray to our Father in heaven.  We are to praise Jesus and thank Jesus but we are to make our request know to our Father in faith and thanksgiving.  Thank You, Jesus for stamping me with Your name.
