A Willing Heart

Luke 10:1 1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.  (NIV)

Before Jesus appointed the 12 disciples as apostles, He sent 72 disciples out by twos to help each other share His good news of salvation.  Jesus had been ministering about 18 months before He appointed the 12.  We don’t know how many disciples He had.  Disciples were students who followed their teacher to learn from him.  While being a disciple they continued in their profession earning their needed support.  When the 12 were appointed they left their professions and became full time students learning all Jesus taught them.  At the time Jesus appointed the 12 He was already on the hit list of the religious hierarchy.  They were already planning to murder Him.  The 12 were told they would be hated just as He was hated.  We can see the hate today as more and more Christians are being persecuted by those in the world and how governments are trying to make laws against Christians.  Our question we must face is will we stand true as the 12 did or will we fall away as many of the disciples did.  It doesn’t take education to serve and follow Jesus.  It take a willing heart.  Where is your heart?
