Seeking Jesus

John 6:26 26 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.  (NIV)

The crowd of people were running after Jesus because He fed them already prepared food.  The spent most of their days growing, harvesting and preparing their food to eat.  Jesus gave them already prepared food and all they had at do was eat it.  Before we condemn them we must ask ourselves why we seek Jesus.  Many seek Him because they’ve heard what is called the prosperity message.  This message claims if we are obedient and tithe, we will be blessed with unlimited material riches.  That promise is nowhere in the Bible.  When we follow Jesus, we are promised a full and abundant life but with that full and abundant life comes persecution and trials.  If we seek Jesus for life insurance of going to heaven we will be disappointed.  Jesus isn’t a life insurance policy.  Yes, if we follow Jesus with our heart, mind and life, we will go to heaven but only if we really believe IN Him as the only Son of God.  Take some time and see if you can put into words why you are seeking Jesus.  He promises if we seek Him we will surely find Him.
