God’s Work

Colossians 3:23 -2423 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (NIV)

So many Christians define the Lord’s work as the work designated by the congregation for the paid minister to do.  Many include all church ministries as “the Lord’s work.”  According to the above verses, all work done by Christians is the Lord’s work.  We are to do everything with all our heart and unto our Lord.  As Christians, we are continually being watched by those who have yet to believe.  What we do and say and how we do and say things is a direct reflection on the love and power of God.  When we do jobs we falsely consider beneath us like cleaning up someone else’s mess, do we do it in joy and unto the Lord or do words of complaint come out of our mouth with a big scowl across our faces.  As believers, we have acknowledged we belong to God.  That means all our time and all we say and do belong to God.  Let us remember we are working for our Lord and do so in all we say and do with joy in our hears for the privilege of God working through us and allowing us to be part of His work.
