A Genie Bottle

1 Thessalonians 5:17 17 Pray without ceasing. (KJV)

So many people say their prayers aren’t working.  They aren’t getting what they pray for.  This is a misunderstanding of what prayer is.  Prayer isn’t a genie bottle you can rub 3 times to get your wish.  Prayer is a 2-way conversation with God.  A conversation intended to help us come into a more intimate relationship with our Father.  We are to keep that conversation going without ceasing.  That doesn’t mean we talk to God without ceasing.  It means we keep our ears open to hear Him when He chooses to talk with us.  It also means we share our thoughts throughout the day with Him.  We see a pretty sunset and tell Him what we think about it.  It is through our conversations with God that give us the ability to walk the life He has for us. It is in joining with Him in power and might that evil on this earth is defeated.  It is in conversation with Him and joining with His power that people are healed.  When we only look at prayer as a source of self-gratification we aren’t praying to God.  Let us pray without ceasing in our listening and our speaking.  Let’s be sure we talk with God out loud, not limit it
