Stop and Listen

Exodus 3:4 4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”  And Moses said, “Here I am.”  (NIV)

God had been trying to get Moses’ attention.  It took a burning bush for Moses to stop and listen to God.  What does it take for us to stop and listen?  We live a hectic life full of noise and interruptions.  Stopping to listen isn’t normal for us.  We see this as little children pull on an adult’s leg trying to get the adult to stop and listen.  How hard does God need to pull on our leg before we’ll stop what we’re doing and saying and actually listen to Him.  God, through the Person of the Holy Spirit is within every believer wanting to give us guidance on every action and decision we make.  We would find we would make a lot fewer mistakes, take fewer wrong turns, if we would only stop and listen.  Next time we see a burning bush (something that is vying for our attention) or fee the tug on our leg, let’s stop and take time to listen to the Holy Spirit.
