Our Choice

John 4:50 50 “Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.”  The man took Jesus at his word and departed.  (NIV)

We must compare our faith with that of this man.  Read the preceding verses.  This man was a royal official which means he was probably a Roman.  He first asked Jesus to go with him to heal his very sick son.  Jesus said people didn’t believe anything they couldn’t see.  This man chose to believe Jesus.  There was no way for the man to know what was happening with his son in another town.  He just chose to trust and believe Jesus so, instead of arguing or begging Jesus, he headed back home to his son, trusting and believing.  Even before he got home, he was met with the news his son was completely well.  Just to confirm, the mans asked when his son got well.  It was at the same time Jesus told the man to go home that his son was healed.  We must ask if we always choose to believe the words of Jesus over what we see with or physical eyes or even what we hear from the world.  We can’t say Jesus doesn’t talk to us.  He gave us the words He spoke when He physically, in human form, walked this earth in what we call the Holy Bible.  He also speaks to us through the Person of the Holy Spirit Who resides in each and every believer/follower.  The choice is ours.  We can choose to always believe or we can choose to go to the limited vision of our physical eyes and the limited hearing of our physical ears.  What do you choose?
