John 3:3 3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”  (NIV)
God created Adam from the dust of the earth.  We all have the minerals found in the dust of the earth.  After God formed Adam, He breathed into Adam the breath of life – the spirit which is in the same image as God.  When Adam and Eve decided they wanted to know as much as God does and be just like God and ate from the forbidden tree of good and evil, the spirit God breathed into them died.  They were no longer in the image of God.  Their spirit was dead.  All man kind from then on was only born with the soul – the mind, body desires and emotions.  From that point mankind could only know God with their own minds.  Our carnal minds can’t really even begin to know God.  It took God’s love in sending His living Word, His Son, Jesus to come into the soulish, physical body of mankind to demonstrate God’s love and to pay the penalty for our sin of separation from God’s image within us.  When we accept Jesus into our souls, our mind, emotions and body, God gives us a new or renewed birth of His Image, the Spirit, in us.  As Paul complained about doing the things he doesn’t want to do, we have a war going on between our soul parts and the spirit within us.  Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword.  To renew our mind, our soulish or selfish thinking, we must stay into the written word of God, the Holy Bible.  We must know and put deeply in our mind the words of Jesus.  Let’s be sure we spend more time arming our spirits with the sword of God (the Holy Bible) than with anything else we read, study or listen.  Let us let the image of God shine through us.
