Being Saved

Romans 13:11-14 11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. 14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.  (NIV)

These verses say a lot about today, the present time we are living.  We Christians, at least in the United States have been slumbering; we’ve been complacent.  We have taken the freedom of our worshiping in groups, owning and reding Bibles and sharing our faith with others totally for granted.  The hour has already passed.  Our freedom has been under attack.  We need to wake up.  We need to put on the armor of light.  God is light and His armor for us to put on is described in Ephesians 6:11. We need to recognize we were saved from the penalty of sin when we invited Jesus into our heart, mind and lives and now we are saved from the power of sin.  Sin only enters us by choice now and unfortunately, we still choose it many times. We need to choose to live according to the precepts laid out for us in the Holy Bible.  We do this without being anxious or fearful of the situation in our nation and our world.  We do what God tells us to do and trust Him as He fulfills all His promises.  Now we are being saved from the power of sin but soon we will be saved from even the presence of sin because we will be in the very real presence of God where there is no sin.
