Matthew 20:13 13 “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius?  (NIV)

This is the parable about the vineyard owner who hired people to work and then, as the work continued, hired more.  He paid all of them the same amount, even though they worked different lengths.  Recently I heard someone complain that the new hire at their work were being hired in at a higher rate than they had been.  That put them, with less experience, at almost the same pay scale as those who had been working there longer.  This attitude leads to bitterness and envy.  This parable applies to this situation as well as it did to the vineyard.  We are so hung up on comparisons we fail to remember Who is in charge of our life and Who has promised to meet all our needs.  Let’s put envy and bitterness along with comparisons behind and look to our Lord God asking Him to let His love flow through us to everyone.  He loves all so who are we to be envious of others when we are all loved equally.  Let’s not let our materialistic logic rob us of letting love flow in and through us and growing in faith believing God is faithful to all who believe.
