Burning Incense

1 Peter 2:9 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (NIV)

Wow.  We are chosen.  We are royalty.  We are God’s special possession.  We are called into God’s wonderful light.  It’s not us who choose.  God has chosen us.  How good that feels.  We are God’s special possession.  That means we belong to God.  We are not our own.  We are God’s own.  He created us for Him.  He created us to belong to Him.  He created us so we would declare praises to and of Him.  How often do we declare praises to Him and of Him?  There is a difference.  To Him means we tell Him how special, wonderful, marvelous and so on He is.  About Him we tell others how special, wonderful, marvelous and so on He is.  We are special to Him.  Do we tell Him and others how special He is to us?  In the Old Testament the priest continually burned incense on the high alter to God.  The scripture tells us our prayers of praise are a sweet aroma or incense to God.  Let’s be sure we “burn lots of incense” from our hearts and lips declaring His praises to and of our Lord God.
