Luke 5:15-16 15 Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.  (NIV)

Crowds of people came to listen to Jesus and many came to be healed by Him.  Jesus didn’t stay to speak or heal.  HE withdrew to a place where He could be alone so He could pray.  Apparently Jesus thought it was more important to pray than to stay and serve.  Since Jesus, Who definitely had an intimate relationship with God and Who knew no sin in His walk on this earth, thought prayer was more important than service, what about us?  So often we think we are too busy to stop and pray.  We allow the demands on our time to dictate to us rather than us being in control of our time.  Prayer so often takes a back seat in our schedule.  We are told to pray without ceasing.  This means to always keep an awareness of God being with us.  Jesus knew His Father was with Him.  Yet He still found it necessary for withdrawing alone for real one on one conversation with the Father.  Let us never put a one on one conversation with our Father on the back seat of our schedule.  Let us make time each day for intense one on one communion with our God.
