Applying Knowledge

James 1:22-25 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do (NIV)

Having knowledge for the sake of knowledge does no good unless we apply the knowledge we have.  Being able to quote scripture from the Holy Bible does no good unless we do what the scripture says.  I’m sure we all know someone who quotes scripture often in regards to what others are or aren’t doing but, observing the person themselves show they don’t apply it to their own lives.  As for a as I’m concerned, I have my hands full with applying scripture to my own life consistently without trying to check up on others.  Let us be careful with our quoting scripture to others unless we are actually living that scripture consistently ourselves.  Knowledge gained is not for pride but for application.  Let us be faithful in the application of the knowledge God has so lovingly provided for us in His written word, the Holy Bible.
