Ephesians 1:4-5 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will   (NIV)

If you know anyone who has adopted a child, you know how much they wanted to and to what extremes and hardship they went to in order to adopt.  From the very beginning of creation God know we would choose to separate ourselves from Him and had In mind a way to adopt us back as His children.  He had one begotten Son Who is part of His own being and sent His Son, Jesus, to this earth in a totally human created form to show us the love of the Father and the Son and to have the Son pay the penalty for our choice of separation from Him.  We didn’t choose God.  God chose us.  He chose us from the very beginning.  He loves us regardless of our disobedience, our lack of love for Him and our desire to be self-centered.  Not only did He choose us, He went to extreme measures to adopt us as His very own children.  There is nothing more extreme than giving up your life for someone else.  God didn’t have to do this.  God could have wiped out the face of the earth and all therein and started over again.  But God loves His creation and chose to make a way for us to become His children.  We don’t have to pay money or memorize any creed or do any work.  We only need to open our hearts and minds to God the Son, Jesus Christ, and acknowledge He did die for the penalty of our sin of self-centered love and then rose in physical form to enable us to be adopted as children of the Father and make us co-heirs with the Son, Jesus.  It costs us nothing.  It cost the Father and the Son everything.  I pray you have said yes to the adoption.  As we get to know our Father and our Brother, Jesus, our love for God grows and our relationship becomes more and more into unity.  This gives God pleasure and is the fulfillment of His will for us.
