The Beginning

Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God    (NIV)

John 1:1-2 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.  (NIV)

In the beginning, God.  Think about it. Really think about it.  God never wasn’t.  God always was and is and will be.  God was is and will be always eternal.  That means forever.   God wanted fellowship.  When He created angels, He created them to worship and to serve but they weren’t created in His image.  God wanted children Who would worship and serve Him out of love.  Before He could create children in His image, He had to created a place for the children to live and grow.  He created the earth and the supporting universe along with all that is on the earth for His children as a safe place for them to learn to worship and fellowship with Him.   When He created them, He charged them with caring for His creation.   Think about what part we each play in the care of the earth and all that is in it.  Are we part of the disposable thinking?  Are we being good stewards?  I know I use much more disposable items than necessary.  How about how we treat our siblings?  Yes, all mankind are our brothers and sisters.  God doesn’t want sibling rivelry or jealously.  He wants us to be a unified and loving family accepting each other for our differences and loving and supporting each other in love.  We need to do better.

Flight Plan

Proverbs 1:2 2 for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight;  (NIV)

2 Timothy 3:16 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,  (NIV)

A few days ago, the Blue Angels did a formation fly over over Houston in honor of the medical profession.  Their formation was in the shape of the medical symbol.  What thrilled me the most was the tail plane pilot who had a body cam on him so we could see the entire formation through his window.  We could also see his hands on the steering wheel and his feet on the pedals.  From the ground the planes seem to be flying very smoothly and effortlessly.  When the tale plane’s camera we could see tremendous vibration.  His hands never left the steering wheel and he was continuously making little adjustments.  His feet were also busy pushing and releasing pedals.  To fly in such a close formation, 18 inches apart at wing tip, required complete concentration with no distractions. They are told to keep their sight on the star (on the wing tip).   We are called to live like we are flying.  Our star, the point we are to always keep in our sight, is God.  We have the scriptures, the Holy Bible, as our steering wheel.  We must keep our mind on the words in the scriptures and make little adjustments to our words, our thinking and our actions.  When we delay those little adjustments, we find a major adjustment is needed.  Our attention to needed adjustments is normally unexpected trials that capture our attention.  Just as the pilots needed a lot of schooling to learn to fly their planes, we need to allow the Holy Spirit to school us through the scriptures so we can learn to apply them to our flight on this earth.  The formations for our earthly flight is in the shape of a cross.  It is both vertical and horizontal.  We look vertically for our flight plans and fly conjunction horizontally with other believers as we are all different parts of the one body.  Let us fly well and safely.

Stand Strong

Ephesians 6:11 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  (NIV)

I’ve written a good bit about the full armor of God.  I’ve gone into the various pieces of the armor.  What I haven’t done is look closely at what we are to do with the armor of God on us.  The Holy Bible says we are to take our stand against the devil’s schemes.  Stand means just that.  It means stand.  We don’t sit.  We don’t move to attack.  We stand our ground.  As we stand we pray and through our prayers the power of those prayers connect with God’s angels.  It is the angels who actually do the spiritual warfare.  For the spiritual warfare to be effective in our time and space it is combined with our prayers.  Some think prayers are just words or wishful thinking.  Prayers in the spirit, prayers allowing the Holy Spirit in us to pray, are the strongest weapon against the spiritual warfare that has raged ever since the angel Lucifer decided he wanted to usurp God’s authority and become god himself.  Why God allows Lucifer access to planet earth I don’t know but do wonder if it is to build up spiritual muscle in His children.  We exercise to build physical muscle so it makes sense to exercise in prayer to build spiritual muscle so we can make our stand against the schemes of Lucifer.  All Lucifer desires is for God not to have His children.  Lucifer isn’t interested in God’s children but in denying God in receiving His children’s love and worship.  Let us not deny God our love and worship.  Let us stand strong.
