Flight Plan

Proverbs 1:2 2 for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight;  (NIV)

2 Timothy 3:16 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,  (NIV)

A few days ago, the Blue Angels did a formation fly over over Houston in honor of the medical profession.  Their formation was in the shape of the medical symbol.  What thrilled me the most was the tail plane pilot who had a body cam on him so we could see the entire formation through his window.  We could also see his hands on the steering wheel and his feet on the pedals.  From the ground the planes seem to be flying very smoothly and effortlessly.  When the tale plane’s camera we could see tremendous vibration.  His hands never left the steering wheel and he was continuously making little adjustments.  His feet were also busy pushing and releasing pedals.  To fly in such a close formation, 18 inches apart at wing tip, required complete concentration with no distractions. They are told to keep their sight on the star (on the wing tip).   We are called to live like we are flying.  Our star, the point we are to always keep in our sight, is God.  We have the scriptures, the Holy Bible, as our steering wheel.  We must keep our mind on the words in the scriptures and make little adjustments to our words, our thinking and our actions.  When we delay those little adjustments, we find a major adjustment is needed.  Our attention to needed adjustments is normally unexpected trials that capture our attention.  Just as the pilots needed a lot of schooling to learn to fly their planes, we need to allow the Holy Spirit to school us through the scriptures so we can learn to apply them to our flight on this earth.  The formations for our earthly flight is in the shape of a cross.  It is both vertical and horizontal.  We look vertically for our flight plans and fly conjunction horizontally with other believers as we are all different parts of the one body.  Let us fly well and safely.
