Know Truth

John 8:31-32 31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  (NIV)

I read the other day that the current culture’s definition of truth is whatever an individual determines is true for themselves.  They claim there is no definite truth.  Truth is a variable, Jesus said He is truth.  There is no truth outside of God.  There is no way to know truth without knowing God.  There is no way to know God without opening the door of our hearts, minds and lives to Jesus, the Word of God made flesh so that could see Truth.  When we come to see Truth (see God) we are set free from the lies that come through sin.  Sin is a great deceiver.  Sin says we are the most important of all.  Sin says what we think and feel is truth.  Jesus said He is the way, the truth and the life.  Without following Jesus our way is lost and confused and has no truth and leads only to deception and death.  Let us seek to know the truth and learn from Him to walk in the truth.

Free Indeed

John 8:36 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.  (NIV)

Do we really believe this?  Do we act and feel free?  Daniel was a prisoner yet he believed and acted free to worship and pray to God regardless of the nation’s consequences.  He was even thrown into the lions den for praying to God.  We must decide if we believe we are free in God or not.  If we are, we will continue to live and speak by the precepts of God.  We will pray.  We will share, when asked, why we have such an abundant life regardless of the situations around us.  Freedom is a joyful thing.  Do we act joyful – the joy of our Lord?  We are the only ones who can answer these questions.  God said to pray without ceasing.  That means He is always in the forefront of our minds and we are tuned to Him to hear Him at any time.  As a mother is tuned to hear her own child’s cry over any other, we are to be so tuned to the voice of God’s Holy Spirit within us.  When we realize we are free in God, we will realize there is no need or room for complaints.  Freedom is mankind’s most prized possession.  Let us possess what God has given us through His Son, Jesus Christ.  Let us possess that freedom in Him.  Let us act it out.
