The Tabernacle

John 4:23 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.  (NIV)

It is important to know this conversation took place at a well in Samaria with a Samaritan woman.  Please read the entire section.  In Exodus 40 there are 7 things that must compose the tabernacle: table of showbread, menorah, screen door, altar, basin, screen to the courtyard gate and anointing priest.  All these were necessary for the Hebrews to worship God.  The tabernacle was the only place of worship.  In the book of John there are 7 times Jesus identifies Himself as “I Am.”  Each I Am has a different description: the bread of life, the light of the world, the door, the good shepherd, the resurrection, the way and the life.  These 7 I Am’s correspond to the 7 things necessary in the tabernacle.  We no longer are limited to worship in the tabernacle.  Jesus is our tabernacle.  He has filled us with His Holy Spirit so the tabernacle is within us.  We are free to worship God anyplace and any time.  Our question is, do we?

Word for Today

2 Timothy 4:3 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.  (NIV)

This is a very applicable word for today.  We see it in the looting and property damage going on.  We see it in the pushing ahead in various lines.  We hear the “me first” attitude so prevalent in our culture today.  People like to be the ones in power over other people.  People don’t want to hear about God.  They want to be their own god.  They don’t want God to be mentioned in school and want to teach things God says are evil.  We even have false teachers in Christian churches teaching self- gratification.  Many denominations are changing definitions of words in the Bible in order to agree with the god-less culture of today.  What do we do about this?  We must stand strong in our faith.  We must speak out in love, not in judgement.  Most important, we must go into our prayer war-room and bind the evil forces trying to deceive this world and pray to loose the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit.

Heavenly Bodies

1 Corinthians 15:49 49 And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.  (NIV)

Many are afraid of cremation.  There is no reason to fear what happens to our physical bodies.  It isn’t our physical bodies that will be resurrected.  It is our spirits.  Our spirits will be given a new, heavenly body.  Our physical bodies, in relation to our heavenly bodies, are like a seed.  The seed bears no resemblance to what the dead seed becomes as it burst into life.  We can’t see what a tomato looks like from looking at a tomato seed.  Will we recognize one-another in our new, heavenly bodies?  Yes.  We recognize the spirit of one-another just as the disciples recognized Moses and Elijah on the mountain as they talked with Jesus.  Yes, right now, as we walk this earth, our physical bodies are important and need to be taken proper care, but we must remember our spirits are of much more importance.  It is very important we take care to feed and strengthen our spirits through meditation and study on the scriptures, the Holy Bible, and through 2-way conversation (prayer) with our heavenly Father.  Let us be sure to properly feed our spirit.
