Luke 14:23. So the master said to his slave, Go out to the highways and country roads and urge people to come in, so that my house will be filled.

All people are called to come to God’s banqueting table but not all respond and many do not know they’re invited. We, as God’s servants are told to go out to the highways and the country roads and give God’s invitation to His banquet. We actually have the opportunity to practice what we will be doing at His banquet. We practice our worship, rejoicing and praise when we gather together in our church services. Our question is are we practicing for the banquet and are we going out to bring the invitation to others? When is the last time you brought a friend or neighbor without a church to your church? Let us be obedient. Let us bring them in to our little banquets to prepare them for the big banquet and make them disciples of our Lord, Jesus.

Luke 14:23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full. (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

Continuing on His way to Jerusalem, Jesus told this parable of a banquet. He spoke of how those invited refused to come. They had other obligations they considered more pressing. They presumed they could go to the banquet when it was convenient for them. The invitation was issued to all who would come. We have several questions today. Each one of us has been invited to the wedding feast of Jesus, God’s Son. We must accept the invitation before the banquet. If we delay it will be too late for us. We accept the invitation by asking Jesus to be in our hearts minds and life as our Lord and Savior. The there is the question about going out to the roads and country lanes and inviting others to join us at the banquet. Are we issuing God’s invitation? Are we letting others around us know there will be a wedding banquet for us, the bride of Christ, the Church of believers? God wants all to come in. Let us do our part.
