God’s Peace

Luke 2:14  “Glory  to God in the highest, and on earth peace among people with whom he is pleased!”

This is what the angels sang to the shepherds.  God has the glory and people on earth have peace among them.  When Jesus and His Holy Spirit are in us we have God’s peace in us.  When Jesus and His Holy Spirit are in others they have God’s peace in them.  Our question is how is it we can’t get along with His peace in each of us?  We criticize, we gossip, we judge, we say spiteful things, we disagree over minor things and on and on.  How can we do that if we really allow the peace of God to abide in us and in fellow believers?  The next time we start to do any of those things that would rob someone of God’s peace let’s remember it is His peace we are attacking.  If we can’t do something positive or say something positive to build up our fellow believers let’s keep our mouths shut.  Let us spread God’s peace with all rather than diversion and blame.

Be Dressed and Ready

Luke 12:40 You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

Even as Jesus is headed for crucifixion in Jerusalem He is thinking about His return to earth for His Bride (the church of believers). He cautions us about remaining dressed and working for Him. How are we to be dressed? We are to be dressed in His Holy Spirit and the robes of forgiveness He gives us. We are to be working through the gifts of His Holy Spirit that He gives to each and every believer according to their calling for the preparation of establishing His Kingdom on earth the same way it is in heaven. We are to be found dressed and working when He comes. He says no one will know when He is coming back. We are to be in a continual state of readiness. If He came today how would He find us dressed and what would He find us doing? We don’t have any laurels to rest on. Let us take Him seriously, stay clothed through forgiveness and through His Holy Spirit and be about the things of God.

Go Preach

Matthew 10:7-8 As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

Many Bible verses contain multiple instructions. Here Matthew first tells us we are to go preach. He isn’t talking about giving a sermon. He is talking about declaring God’s Word aloud to all who will listen. All believers are called to “preach.” We are all to declare God’s Word by sharing with outers what God has done for and with us and by telling others about Jesus and sharing with them God’s plan for their salvation. Sometimes it is hard to know how to start. When I don’t know how to find an open door with someone I simply say, “God bless you.” It’s amazing how many doors that opens. Yes, occasionally someone might slam the door in my face but that is very seldom. Most want to hear why I said that. Let us remember we are to go forth and “preach.” The next several days we will explore other instructions in those two verses. God bless you.
