What Part

Mark 16:7. But go, tell his disciples, even Peter, that he is going ahead of you into Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you.”

Jesus appeared to them and then was gone.  What next.  The remembered what the angels said about going to Galilee where Jesus would meet them.  It was about 60 miles on foot.  That took a good number of days of the next week.  I would have liked to listen in as they talked on their trip.  Most of the grief probably disappeared by then but they were probable still in hopes that He was about to established His Kingdom here on this earth.  They probable wondered about what part each of them would have in the new kingdom.  Sometimes we forget these disciples were very normal people as we are.  We sometimes wonder when Jesus will come back to establish His new kingdom and claim His Bride.  We may wonder what we will do in His Kingdom.  Our question is what are we doing now in preparation for His kingdom?  We each have a part.  Ask Him to show you your part today for today.

Days of Noah

Matthew 24:37-39 For just like the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. For in those days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark. And they knew nothing until the flood came and took them all away. It will be the same at the coming of the Son of Man.

Jesus compares the time of His return to earth for His Bride (the Church of believers) to the days of Noah and the flood.  The non-believers laughed at Noah and chose not to believe.  Our world is full of those who don’t believe Jesus and are lost from God.  Our question we each must face is, is someone lost because we haven’t shown them the way?  What are we going to do about it? We show Jesus with our faces, our actions, our lack of actions and our words.  It grieves me to know some have left this life who I failed to share Jesus and His way, the only way, of salvation.  I pray no more parish because of what I’ve done or said or not done or  not said.

Are We Sleeping?

Matthew 26:45 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

This is a question we must each ask ourselves. Are we sleeping and resting? None of us know when it is our last hour on this earth. None of us know when Jesus will come back for His Bride (the body of believers). What are we doing? Are we too tired to share His power and glory and Words with others? Are we too tired to reach our hand out to those in need? What are we doing with our time? Is what we doing going to last into eternity or will we have forgotten it by th3 next day? Let’s not be found sleeping and resting when God is moving. We must stay alert – keep our spiritual eyes and ears open to the movement of God on this earth and in the people of this earth. God will have His way. His purpose will be fulfilled. Our question is will we be part of it or will we miss it? Ask today and everyday for a refreshing infilling of His Holy Spirit to make our eyes, ears and hearts attuned to His movement. Let us be found working when He calls for us.

The Banquet

Luke 14:23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full. (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

Continuing on His way to Jerusalem, Jesus told this parable of a banquet. He spoke of how those invited refused to come. They had other obligations they considered more pressing. They presumed they could go to the banquet when it was convenient for them. The invitation was issued to all who would come. We have several questions today. Each one of us has been invited to the wedding feast of Jesus, God’s Son. We must accept the invitation before the banquet. If we delay it will be too late for us. We accept the invitation by asking Jesus to be in our hearts minds and life as our Lord and Savior. The there is the question about going out to the roads and country lanes and inviting others to join us at the banquet. Are we issuing God’s invitation? Are we letting others around us know there will be a wedding banquet for us, the bride of Christ, the Church of believers? God wants all to come in. Let us do our part.

Be Dressed and Ready

Luke 12:40 You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

Even as Jesus is headed for crucifixion in Jerusalem He is thinking about His return to earth for His Bride (the church of believers). He cautions us about remaining dressed and working for Him. How are we to be dressed? We are to be dressed in His Holy Spirit and the robes of forgiveness He gives us. We are to be working through the gifts of His Holy Spirit that He gives to each and every believer according to their calling for the preparation of establishing His Kingdom on earth the same way it is in heaven. We are to be found dressed and working when He comes. He says no one will know when He is coming back. We are to be in a continual state of readiness. If He came today how would He find us dressed and what would He find us doing? We don’t have any laurels to rest on. Let us take Him seriously, stay clothed through forgiveness and through His Holy Spirit and be about the things of God.
