Look and Expect

Acts 3:4 Peter looked directly at him (as did John) and said, “Look at us!”

This lame man had given up.  Even when he asked for money he apparently didn’t expect any.  He wouldn’t even bother to look at the people he was wanting help from.  He had to be told to look me pay attention to them.  Our question is when we pray asking God for something do we really look to Him?  So often we ask because that is what we were taught to do,.  We really don’t expect ny real help.  We just accept our lot.  When we speak to my one communication is better if we look at them.  We can’t see God physically but we can look at Him when we speak to Him.   We look by really focusing our attention on Who He is.  We see Him as the Creator of ll that was, is and will ever be.  We see Him as our provider of all we need.  We speak to Him with the assurance that He really does hear us.  We speak and look to Him as our Source of being.  We se peak and look to Him with thanksgiving and expectation in our hearts, eyes, minds and speech.  Let us look directly t our God.

Philippians 3:14 with this goal in mind, a I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God b in Christ Jesus.

When we take a trip we keep in mind our destination while traveling.  We walk out to our car.  We drive the car to the airport parking lot.  We ride a shuttle to the terminal. We might ride a tram, walk or go on a moving sidewalk.  We get on a plane.  None do these are our destination but each one helps us get closer to our destination.  Our life destination is eternal life in the Presence of our Creator, God.  We experience a lot of different “conveyances on the way.  None os them are our destination but each is a tool to bring us closer.  Some of the tools or conveyances are church, Bible study groups, prayer, meditation and ministry to others.  As we travel through this life on planet earth we must focus on our destination while we take full advantage of each of the tools and conveyances God gives us.  Our question is are we focusing on our destination (God) or are we focused on the tools and conveyances?

Isaiah 43:12 I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God. (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

God has revealed Himself through Jesus. Through the crucifixion He has saved us and proclaimed Who He is. There is no other way to the only true, Creator, God except through His only Son, Jesus. For all those who come to Him through Jesus, God says we are His witnesses. Witnesses tell what they have seen and heard. We who know the way to God are to tell others and show others the way. Our question is are we being witnesses? Do we demonstrate through our words and actions that we know God? Do we tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Let us choose not to be silent. Let us tell those around us as well as show them God is God and there is but one way to come to Him. When we come that way we not only are promised an abundant life, we are promised all eternity in the very Presence of God.

On My Way

Ps 39:5 You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Each man’s life is but a breath.

Sometimes it is hard to remember that life, as we know it on this earth is extremely temporary in the line of all eternity.  This life is just a trip on the way to eternity.  Where we spend eternity is up to us.  God, our Creator, had enough compassion and love for us to send His only Son, Jesus Christ, to be born as a baby, live as man and die on the cross for our sins.  Accepting this and asking Jesus to be Lord of our lives opens the gates of heaven and the door to the place He has prepared for us.  We have a job to do as we travel this earth.   We must tell of God’s love, share His love and introduce others to His salvation through Jesus.  What a beautiful plan.  Imagine the God of the universe Who can do everything and anything by Himself, loves us enough to allow us to be part of His work.  The question is are we doing our part?
