Ginrich's Devotional Blog

Deuteronomy 6:5 You must love the Lord your God with your whole mind, your whole being, and all your strength.

Sometimes those of us who grew up in church as children. whose going to church was part of the family routine, are at a disadvantage.  We were raised to go to church, give to the church, do for the church and behave the way the church says we should behave were just part of our lives as much as saying please and thank you.  It was something we were expected to do to fit into the group we were a part of.  We said the right things and did the right things.  It’s hard to realize God has no grandchildren.  Each one of us, regardless of our upbringing, must recognize and confess we are sinneres with no hope of eternal life in the Presence of God.  We cannot be good enough.  There are not enough right things to say.  It is only through a personal and real relationship with Jesus, God’s only Son and through our confession, His blood and His forgiveness that we can be a part of God’s family.  Until then we are only a part of God’s creation.  Our question is are we willing to admint, no matter how good we think we are or others think we are, no matter how much we “do” for church or for others, we are nothing more than sinners separated from the Presence of God by our very nature?  The only way to God is to confess our sinfulness and ask Jesus to cover us with His shed blood.  It is only through His blood that God can see us as worthy, through His Son, to dwell with Him.  Are we coasting as church members are have we really gotten on our knees and met Jesus for our very own selves?
