Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God

John 1:1-2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

In the beginning. At the very start of anything God already was along with His Word, Jesus, His Son. All thing every in existence or ever will be in existence have the base of their existence in God and His Word. God and His Word, Jesus, are the foundations for everything. This includes the lives of individuals like you and me. If our existence, our life, is to be on a firm foundation it must be on the foundation of God through His Son, Jesus. Everything we are, everything we do and everything we think must be built on that foundation. When something is not on a foundation it will collapse. When we feel things collapsing around us we must check to be sure we are still standing on the foundation of God and Jesus. When we stay on this foundation we can be assured that all things in and around us will be for our good and for the glory of God. He alone holds the keys to life. He has given us the assurance of victory over death in this life through His Son, Jesus. Our question is are we making sure we are standing on His foundation – the only foundation that will last throughout all eternity?

Genesis 1:31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

We were traveling in Alaska and met a man who said he had been in Anchorage 2 days and had seen all there was to see. We asked about various places in Anchorage and he said he never heard of them. He was off as fast as he could go to the next destination. For him, travel was all about the destination not the trip. Unfortunately many of us spend our lives that way. We are moving from one destination (age, event or other) to the next, not noticing anything between. Life on this earth is about the trip. Our destination – if we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior – is held securely in God’s hands. The time we will get there is also in His hands. We are here to enjoy the trip and appreciate what God created and what He allows us to see and do. Our question is are we enjoying the trip? Let us first be assured of our ultimate destination and then let us trust God and his timing for all the mini-side stops along our trip. When we do that we will not long for past side-stops but will enjoy where we are when we are, leaving the past and future in the hands of the One Who made us, loves us and saves us from evil and from ourselves.

Raise the Dead

Matthew 10:7-8 As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

Matthew now tells us to “raise the dead.” So many people are spiritually dead. They are walking around on this earth totally unaware of their God– totally unaware of the Source of Life. Do we really care? Are we willing to step out of our comfort zone and share the news and love of God with others? When is the last time you shared God’s plan of salvation with someone? You say you’re not an evangelist? We are all called to declare the good news of God’s love, mercy and grace. I don’t want to stand before God and have someone tell Him I didn’t tell them about Him. Let’s raise someone from their spiritual death today.

On My Way

Ps 39:5 You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Each man’s life is but a breath.

Sometimes it is hard to remember that life, as we know it on this earth is extremely temporary in the line of all eternity.  This life is just a trip on the way to eternity.  Where we spend eternity is up to us.  God, our Creator, had enough compassion and love for us to send His only Son, Jesus Christ, to be born as a baby, live as man and die on the cross for our sins.  Accepting this and asking Jesus to be Lord of our lives opens the gates of heaven and the door to the place He has prepared for us.  We have a job to do as we travel this earth.   We must tell of God’s love, share His love and introduce others to His salvation through Jesus.  What a beautiful plan.  Imagine the God of the universe Who can do everything and anything by Himself, loves us enough to allow us to be part of His work.  The question is are we doing our part?

Eyes of God

2Ch 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.

It doesn’t mater if I —–.  No one is looking.  No one will know.  Have you every thought that?  There is always One looking, One Who sees everything.  He is the One Who matters.  He is the One Who will be our final judge.  Shakespeare said, “Life is a stage.”  We are all playing a roll in life.  We are confused as to who the audience is.  Our audience is God, the Father, and the Creator of all that was, is or will ever be.  Our question we must answer: whom are we living for?  Possible answers: ourselves, other people or God.  Who do you choose to live for?
