Ps 19:8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart.

Due to damage from chemo and radiation I have a pacemaker that controls my heart.  Because of it my heart is usually able to beat at a steady pace.  God also has a pacemaker for our spirits.  His precepts (His commands) are His pacemaker for our lives.  Living in obedience to His precepts keeps our spirits beating (flowing) in the right rhythm with Him.  Just like I had to have surgery to put the pace maker in, we need God’s surgery of forgiveness through the cross of Jesus, His Son, to bring His Holy Spirit and His precepts into our hearts and minds.  From time to time I must endure more surgery to change the batteries.  We also need to continue in confession of sins and refilling of forgiveness and His Holy Spirit to keep our batteries (spirits) charged.  Let us take time to see how our heart spirits are doing.  It may be time for recharging.
