No Defence

Mark 6:61 But he was silent and did not answer. Again the high priest questioned him,

He was standing trial for nothing that He did.  He said nothing.  He did not try to defend Himself.  How quick we are to defind ourselves.  We don’t like to be told we’re wrong.  We’ll defend most all of our words, actions or even inactions.    Quite often, when we are defending ourselves there is anger in our voice.  In college our choir director said “Sing loud enough to recognize your mistakes.”  In his wisdom he knew insecure college students would be resentful of another student correcting them.  It seems we are slow to “outgrow” our insecurity.  Our question is where is our security?  Is it in our own abilities or is it in our relationship with God through His Son Jesus?  The best responce to someone else’s correction or criticism is to thank them for their concern, take it to God in prayer and allow the Holy Spirit to bring us into His Truth.

Never Changes

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Some put their trust and security in their ability to work.  Work will come to an end some day.  Some put their trust and security in money.  The value and amount of money will come to an end some day.  Some put their trust in their physical looks.  Looks become less attractive with age.  Some put their trust and security in governments.  Governments can fall or change.  There are so many material and temporary things people put their trust and security in.  Then, when those things change or disappear they are in trouble.  There is only One Who never changes.  Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God is the same yesterday, today and forever.  We are to put our trust and security in Him.  He has promised never to leave us or forsake us.  He is our source for peace, security and love.  If you are having trouble with peace, security or love, take time right now to invite Jesus Christ into your heart and life.  Problems of life will come and go but He will never leave you.  If you have already done this but are wrestling with insecurity and/or lack of peace, ask God for a fresh infilling of His Holy Spirit.  He is faithful.

Let’s Be Hot

Rev 3:16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth

Many people have the wrong interpretation of what is happening in the world today.  There are wars, terrorists, economic instability, political and government instability and natural disasters.  We tend to put our emphasis on those things in relation to our own comfort, security, prosperity or political preferences.  We fail to see God is trying to get the attention of lukewarm and cold people.  He doesn’t want a single person lost from Him.  When things get tough a lot of people turn their attention to God.  Fear and insecurity seem to awaken the need of something missing inside us – God’s peace.  God wants more than the outer circumstances to catch the attention of people.  He wants us to be active and vocal in telling and showing others the way to God’s peace.  God is our Source.  It is more important to know we will not be “spit out of His mouth” than any other thing.  All others are temporary.  God is eternal.  Lets be hot.  Lets be vocal.  Lets be active.
