Who Will You Follow

Ro 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is  —his good, pleasing land perfect will.

There is a strong movement in several Christian denominations to conform their beliefs to the beliefs of the world.  They are claiming that all of God’s commands in the Bible are not relevant in today’s world.  They have decided the can choose to keep what they like and toss out what they don’t like.  They’re major concern is numbers of members and amount of money not being dedicated to God and to obedience to His Word.  God told us through Jesus that we are to be the light of the world.  We are to set the standards and be the example and encourage the world to desire to follow God’s way.  The question is do we choose to let God set our standard and follow Him or do we choose to fit into the changing world standards and follow the world?  Decide today whom you will choose.

Conscience

2Co 1:12 Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God. We have done so not according to worldly wisdom but according to God’s grace.

We are all born with a conscience. How it develops depends on how we are raised and taught.  Our conscience has principles and standards we have been taught and gets it cue from how we line up with those principles and standards.  As followers of Jesus Christ we base our principles and standards on the Bible, God’s written word.  We cannot do this without the renewing of our mind for our mind has taken in the sinfulness of this world.  It is our responsibility to apply God’s Word to our daily living.  To do this we must rely on His Holy Spirit for understanding and for the power to change our behavior and desires.  It is only as our standards move into agreement with God’s that we can trust our consciences to keep us on His course for us.  Our goal is to live by His Spirit Gal 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law
